BirdLife International

BirdLife International is a global partnership of 125 national conservation organisations working across 120 countries on science-based bird, species and habitat conservation.

BirdLife International is a global conservation partnership founded in 1922 and headquartered in Cambridge, United Kingdom. It operates as a partnership of 125 national conservation organisations across 120 countries, spanning Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Central Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific. The organisation describes itself as the world's only global partnership dedicated to conserving birds and all life on the planet.

Its work is organised around several programmes: species conservation research and action; habitat protection and ecological sustainability, including for migratory birds; engagement of local communities and Indigenous Peoples in conservation delivery; and policy and advocacy aimed at influencing decision-makers on biodiversity. The approach is explicitly science-based, using birds as an indicator of planetary health, and is delivered through cross-border collaboration between Partner organisations.

BirdLife International operates within the non-profit and NGO sector, working across nature conservation, biodiversity protection, wildlife and habitat conservation, and scientific research. The stated culture emphasises long-term, high-impact conservation delivery for the benefit of nature and people, partnership-based working, and the engagement of Indigenous Peoples in conservation.
