Volta

Volta is a founder-led, vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform developing gigascale GPU data centre campuses backed by $5 billion in investor commitments and a $10 billion Norway partnership.

Volta is a fully vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform that brings institutional capital, powered land, data centres, compute, software and operations under a single founder-led enterprise. The company's stated objective is to deliver compute with the dependability and scale of traditional utilities, and to make compute available to every organisation that needs it. It was founded by CEO Ricard Boada and Chief Corporate Development Officer Sofia Gumuzio, and combines expertise in capital markets, infrastructure development and AI engineering.

Volta builds gigascale AI factory campuses on NVIDIA's DSX platform and Vera Rubin systems, with a GPU pipeline exceeding 100,000 and contracted power capacity of over 1GW. Its AI Infrastructure Program is backed by $5 billion committed by Andreessen Horowitz, Altimeter, NVIDIA and Azora. In Norway, the company is constructing an AI factory under a $10 billion strategic partnership, described as the largest AI infrastructure deal of its kind. The technical remit spans AI infrastructure, GPU compute, data centre development, hardware deployment, software operations and capital formation.

For counterparties assessing governance and contractual exposure, the relevant features are the integrated operating model - which places capital formation through to software operations within one enterprise - and the involvement of institutional investors and a strategic partner in the underlying programmes. Volta operates from London, Palo Alto, New York and Norway, and emerged from stealth mode as a founder-led business spanning the AI infrastructure, data centre, energy and power infrastructure, and institutional investment sectors.
