Entry level pay in London is a mixed picture. Plenty of first jobs start well under £30,000. A smaller group of finance and compliance roles starts at £30,000 or above, and they don't ask for years of experience.

Here's where to look, what they usually pay and how to apply.

Roles that often start at £30k or more

KYC analyst. One of the most common ways in. According to the salary guides we've seen, starting pay is often around £30,000 to £40,000. You check customer documents and identities before a firm takes the customer on.

CDD and onboarding analyst. Close to KYC, with similar pay. Banks, payments firms and fintechs hire for it all the time.

AML and transaction monitoring analyst. You look for suspicious activity in customer accounts. Starting pay can be higher than KYC, and the route up is clear.

Compliance analyst. Pay varies. Junior compliance roles often sit around £22,000 to £30,000, so £30,000 is the top of that range at entry. It rises quickly with a year or two of experience.

Pay comes with caveats. These are ranges from guides and not promises, and many job ads leave the salary out. Ask early.

Why London pays more

One 2026 UK salary guide puts the London premium at roughly 15 to 25 percent over the regions. It also costs more to live there, so compare offers carefully against your rent and commute.

Where to find them

Recent London roles on our board include a Compliance Analyst at Marsh McLennan, hybrid. Lendable, S&P Global and WPP have also advertised compliance roles in London on a hybrid basis. Hybrid is common, so check each listing for the days you'd need to be in the office.

Browse all of them on our London jobs page. You can also look at KYC roles and AML roles.

What employers want

You don't need a finance degree. They want accuracy, clear writing and the ability to follow a process without cutting corners. Plenty of teams train graduates and career changers from scratch. Our guide on how to get your first compliance job with zero experience shows what to put on your CV.
