Greenergy

Greenergy is an international transportation fuel supplier and manufacturer of waste-based biofuels, lower emission diesel and carbon-certified fuels, operating in the UK, Ireland, Canada, the USA and Brazil.

Greenergy is an international transportation fuel supplier and one of Europe's largest manufacturers of waste-based renewables. Founded in 1992 as a bedroom start-up by Andrew Owens, the company produces lower emission diesel, biofuels manufactured in-house from waste materials, and carbon-certified fuel products with guaranteed greenhouse gas emissions savings. It supplies fuel to supermarkets, oil companies and independent retailers, and operates across road transport, aviation, marine and fuel retail.

The company was the first supplier to introduce biofuel blends to the market and pioneered the introduction of cleaner, lower sulphur fuels to UK forecourts. Its technical work spans waste-based biofuel manufacturing, low-carbon fuel production, low sulphur fuel formulation, carbon-certified products and fuel supply chain management. Greenergy states that it was founded with an explicit environmental vision around lower emission fuels and air quality benefits, and describes a commitment to the energy transition and investment in low-carbon fuel.

Greenergy operates in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada, with a growing presence in the USA and Brazil. In July 2024 the company was acquired by Trafigura.
